    One-of-a-Kind Journey
This piece, made during the 1930s, is a beautiful example of what color can do. With a specific shade, not amber ... not quite orange but a lovely Merigold yellow, this necklace becomes a special find. Highlighting the beautiful hue even further are the large, almost 1/2", size of the crystals which amplify their light and sparkle. Each crystal has a brilliant cut and is open at the back with a detailed construction that was meant to mimic an antique clawed collet setting. With crystals extending for the full length of the strand this Art Deco necklace has a classical silhouette with compelling shimmer

    On Color.
Color plays a key role in jewelry design and in turn its collectability. Whether natural stones or glass, what exact hue of blue was used, or the combination of colors can tell you what time period a piece was made. Certain shades can be more common during a particular decade, making that piece of jewelry a classic example of the period - or - conversely a vibrant and unique shade might make it quite rare.
    On Sparkle.
Sparkle has been a key element of jewelry design and the way gemstones are cut for centuries - as well as an indication of quality. For example, the bezel-set brilliant cut was developed to enhance the light-reflecting qualities of gemstones, like diamonds in the light. In addition during the Georgian era, the rose cut diamond became popular as the cut sparkled beautifully in candlelight. Facets, special raised prong and open back settings, and movement all serve to promote play with light and make for stunning pieces.
